I wrote this a few years ago also, another children's picture book in verse :)

If I were a ninja, do you know what I'd do?
I would not wear black, I would try something new.

I know my fellow ninjas love their black,
But really, I could do way better then that.

Maybe I'd wear pink to give me my own special mojo,
I'd really stand out from my friends back at the dojo.

Perhaps a brilliant sapphire or an electric blue,
Even navy's to close to that boring black hue.

Thinking of white gives me a tickle
I could look menacing, like a giant icicle!

I'm not sure about wearing yellow from head to toe,
a banana ninja wouldn’t be taken seriously you know.

Brown might be a good fit for my uniform,
But it's certainly way out of the ninja norm.

A shade of gray wouldn’t be to loud,
But it would look dangerous like a thundercloud!

A tint of red could be nice,
“Don't mess with me, or pay the price!”

Wearing purple, hiding in the night,
 Perfectly matches that evening twilight.

Orange would be a bad choice I reckon,
To bright to conceal my sleek ninja weapon

Stealthing through the trees, wearing nothing but green,
I'd blend in perfectly, never to be seen!

Black is the best choice, I guess that's fair.
So If I were a ninja, that's what I'd wear.

I wrote this a few years ago, it's definitely not perfect but I thought it would make a cute little picture book in verse. It's about a day in the life of a mermaid named Laila and her fish friend Izzy. I need learn how to illustrate lol :D

When the morning sunbeams set the sea aglow,
The merpeople awake in the tropical kingdom below.

There lives a little mer-girl, no older than you.
With periwinkle eyes, her tail a fuchsia hue.

She peeks out her window excited for the day
Ready to explore with her friend in the azure bay.

Leaving her home and traveling along the coral reef bend,
She meets up with Izzy, her clever clownfish friend.

The best friends set off for an adventurous day,
Knowing that if you stay safe, you can have of fun and play.

A pod of dolphins were playing chase,
Laughing, Laila and Izzy joined in on the race.

The playful dolphins zipped and twirled,
Smiling as Laila dashed and swirled.

Leaving the deep blue, and swimming near the shore,
The friends watched some silly seals who said “lets play some more!”

Watching the sleek swift seals play hide and seek
In that lush forest of kelp, life was sure unique.

Dozens of creatures; furry, smooth, small and long
Live happily among the kelp, right where they belong.

On bright days like this when the sky is clear,
Laila likes to sunbathe on on the rocks, while Izzy swims near.

The dark bumpy barnacles that live off the rocks,
Make for tasty treats while Laila combs her tangled locks.

In the distance the whales echo their song,
Izzy dances while Laila hums along.

Using clapping clams to keep the beat,
Mermaid music is sure a treat.

A family of squid dart through cloudy purple ink,
Laila giggles when Izzy jokes; “They kind of stink!”

Hiding it's secrets under the sea,
Laila and Izzy stumble upon an old mystery.

Resting on the mossy sea floor,
Slept a ship they had never seen before.

Full of treasure was the coral covered wreck,
With bracelets and baubles to adorn Laila's neck.

Hearing a sound only mermaids can hear, Laila can tell that a shark is near!
Quickly the friends dive into a small cave,
Knowing right now is not the time to be brave.

Outside the cave the great shark swam lazily by,
Never discovering their secret hiding place; but only mermaids know why.

The sea currents get stronger and the waves start to rise,
It's time to head home so the friends say their goodbyes.

Though Laila will miss Izzy, it's getting pretty late,
There is still so much to see, but their discoveries can wait.

The storms aren't so scary but they sure can get loud,
It's time to cuddle and share stories, with family all around.

After combing her hair, the color of the moon
Laila brushes her teeth, and will be asleep soon.

The sun has now set and the stars brilliantly shine,
Laila climbs into bed, and gets ready for story time.

Her Mommy and Daddy leave her with a kiss,
“Good night my sweet mermaid, don't forget to make a wish!”
